Becoming a Member

Signing of the Membership Book

Your decision to become a member is an important one, both for you and for the congregation. Your signing of the membership book indicates your commitment to the values, goals, and general welfare of this church. It acknowledges both publicly and privately, your kinship and affinity with the immediate and larger religious community of Unitarian Universalism. With your signature you affirm your commitment to this congregation, our ministers, staff, and the work of this church.

Exploring the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington

We ask for participation in our Exploring the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington membership class prior to signing the membership book.

Membership Expectations

Our congregational expectations are that you:

  • Participate in the life of the community through activities that nourish you. Also, participate at congregational meetings and vote in governance decisions. Be of service to the church, whether through committee work, volunteering as a facilitator or teacher, as a Sunday morning volunteer (greeter, etc.), or otherwise.
  • Make a financial pledge to support the church each year.
  • Remember your role in the larger UU tradition.
  • Commit to your own spiritual growth. Being a part of a religious community brings change and opportunities for growth.

The Connections Coordinator assists new members in fulfilling these expectations.
