In February, 2026, Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education (OWL) classes will begin for Kindergarten/1st grade (K/1) and 4th/5th grade (4/5). Both will be offered during the second service time frame; OWL 4/5 is 90 minutes long so it will start earlier and/or end later than other children/youth religious education classes.
K/1 OWL: February 1, 8, 15, 22
11:45 - 12:45 (kids start in the service as usual, and go to OWL when dismissed for religious education classes). This class will be held in the Library.
4/5 OWL: February 1, 8, 15, 22, March 1, 8
11:15am - 12:45pm OR 11:30am - 1:00pm. If the class is large it will meet in Room 208 from 11:15 - 12:45. If it is small enough to work well in Room 110, we will have the option of starting at 11:30 and ending at 1pm.
Families are asked to commit to regular attendance when signing up for OWL. This is important for building relationships of trust among peers and with adult facilitators, as well as continuity with the content.
Parents are required to attend an information session prior to enrolling children in OWL classes. This meeting is scheduled for January 25, 1-2:30pm in the library. (If a larger space is needed, we will meet in Fellowship Hall from 1:30 - 3:00 instead.)
Children must be registered for religious education for the 2025-26 school year in order to participate in OWL. You do not need to be a member of UUCB to register, and registration does not imply membership! If your child is not registered, please click here.
Notes:
- These OWL classes are currently scheduled every two years. Our ability to offer them more frequently depends on the availability of our trained facilitators. If you or someone you know would like to be trained as an OWL facilitator, please contact Stephanie Kimball.
- OWL classes are offered free of charge to all UUCB member families. If you are not a member, please consider making a donation to cover the cost of materials and training.
