Religious Exploration Assistant
We're hiring!
UUCB seeks a Religious Exploration Assistant, starting in July 2026. This person will collaborate with the Director of Lifespan Religious Exploration and support our religious exploration programs in various ways including preparing materials and classrooms, performing administrative tasks, communicating with volunteers, children, and others, and helping with events and activities. This is a 20hr/wk position, and compensation will be $18-20/hr. Title: Religious Education Assistant
Reports to: Director of Lifespan Religious Education (DLRE)
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Hours and schedule: 20hrs/wk, including Sunday mornings

- Organization and Planning: Organizes people, materials, and physical spaces to accomplish multiple, concurrent goals and activities; demonstrates a strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Trust and Integrity: Is widely trusted to keep confidences, admit errors, and adhere to a transparent set of personal and professional values that are congruent with the ministry of the congregation
Essential Functions
- Supports children and youth religious exploration classes by preparing materials, setting up classrooms, and communicating as needed with teachers;
- Provides support for teacher trainings, parent events, Adult Religious Exploration classes, and other activities and events as needed;
- Welcomes visiting families, helps orient new member families to the congregation and its religious exploration program, and supports connection with and between families in the program.
- Maintains attendance records, class roll books, communication logs, nametags, and other administrative tasks;
- Helps recruit and schedule new teachers;
- Maintains the Religious Education workspace, classrooms, and storage areas in an organized fashion, and helps track supply inventories;
- Maintains worship and Community Hour activities such as the “soul work” materials in the Meeting Room as well as the Intergenerational Activity Table in Fellowship Hall;
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with craft materials and processes, or a willingness to learn;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Competency with technologies including Google Sheets, Google Docs, Church Center, Planning Center database, Zoom, and others, or willingness to learn;
- Ability to connect well with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities
