National Library Week celebration:

Come and share your favorite book(s)!

Please join us on Thursday, April 6 at 11:30 am in Fellowship Hall or virtually by Zoom. Since National Library Week falls in April, this would be a good time to use Ann Kamman’s suggestion of featuring our favorite books.  We will set up tables like we did for our travel program, and our art program before that, and ask that you bring a copy of your favorite book to the church.

Feel free to add any related materials, such as a DVD if the book has been made into a film, a program from a play if that applies, an item to represent the main character be it human or otherwise, or something which speaks to the theme or subject matter, or even make a diorama to accompany your choice!  You may want to bring fabric to place beneath your display. Include a card with your name and a brief explanation, if you wish, of why you chose the particular book.  Be creative in your expression!

All are welcome. Snacks and beverage will be provided. Bring a sandwich or lunch if you wish. An email reminder will be sent out prior to the meeting. If you wish to be added to the list or want more information, please contact Doris Wittenburg, President, dwittenb (at) indiana.edu.

The Women’s Alliance was founded in 1959 to manage the annual fundraising bazaar, build fellowship, and give service and financial support to the church and selected church and  community projects, as voted upon by the membership.

The group is open to everyone, and meets the first Thursday of the month at 11:30 am in Fellowship Hall or via Zoom.  In-person meetings begin with a brown bag lunch, and beverages and desserts are provided unless otherwise noted. The program starts at noon – with a presentation about a community organization or other interesting topic.  This is followed by a brief discussion of Women’s Alliance business. Meetings end at 1 pm.

Annual membership dues are $25, which, along with 20% of the net proceeds from the church fundraising bazaar, enables the Alliance to provide year-end holiday gifts to church staff; provide contributions to each program presenter from a registered 501(c)(3) organization; and give support to other important projects and activities.
