Task Force on a Just Peace
Peace is central to the UU vision of justice. The Task Force on a Just Peace is the nucleus for peace activism within the congregation. We give visibility and voice to the UU concern for peace in the larger community, take positions on war-and-peace issues, and work to nurture and develop a vision of what world-peace-with-justice would look like.
The task force's current priorities are working to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, opposing an attack on Iran, and cutting military spending. Together with Bloomington Peace Action Coalition, we participate in a vigil on Courthouse Square the first and third Wednesdays of the month between 5 and 6 PM. This fall, we will be hosting author Barry Sanders, whose book, The Green Zone, describes the environmental costs of militarism. Our email subscribers receive updates on both local events and global issues.
